Clark Gregg’s Five Favorite Agent Coulson Scenes ….

Firstly, be assured the following video contains no spoilers for The Avengers. In fact, it contains no spoilers for any of the Marvel Studios films in which actor Clark Gregg appears as Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D., Secondly, that is because for some reason Next Movie only include about two seconds per scene. Which is a bummer, because Gregg’s performances are often everyone’s favorite parts of these films, but there’s a lot of the guy just hanging out and being funny in this video and getting a glimpse at his experience making them, so check it out.

You can see Gregg now in The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon and based on the superhero team first assembled by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in the pages of Marvel Comics. The film has been embraced by superhero comics fans and critics, but some industry professionals like Golem’s Mighty Swing cartoonist James Sturm have called for a boycott in protest of Marvel and its parent company Disney’s treatment of the late Kirby and his heirs, who recently lost a court battle to reclaim rights to the lucrative characters. Mindful of the ethical conflict some people feel about the situation, cartoonist Jon Morris proposed an option whereby movie-goers can match the cost of their tickets with donations to The Hero Initiative, the not-for-profit group dedicated to assisting comics industry professionals in dire financial straits.

‘The Avengers 2′ Already in Development !!!

With the success of The Avengers last weekend in the U.S. box office, breaking records and the incredible amount brought in overseas, we all knew a sequel would have to happen. Nothing was announced before but we know the actors all have signed sequel clauses and such. Today, we finally get some official word.

Deadline reported that Disney CEO, Bob Iger announced they are developing a sequel. Apparently he said the success of The Avengers “is a great illustration of why we like Marvel so much.” Keep in mind, Disney did pay a lot for Marvel. Disney and Marvel Studios also earned the success of making this movie happen.

As for when, sequels to Iron Man and Thor are set for next year with Cap 2 for 2014. There’s an open slot left in 2014, speculation is Guardians of the Galaxy or Ant-Man. We might not see Avengers 2 until 2015. Feels like a long ways off. But at least it will happen and hopefully with everyone, including Joss Whedon, on board.

Kinetix Releases a ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ T-Shirt Collection …..

With the release of The Dark Knight Rises this summer, LA-based design company KINETIX has come out with a collection of T-shirts designed in collaboration with the Warner Bros. Exclusively sold on kitson, the T-shirt collection features imagery of Catwoman and Bane from The Dark Knight Rises, as well as classic Batman logos and DC Comics art (including Dustin Nguyen’s artwork for Heart of Hush).

Check out the KINETIX x The Dark Knight Rises collection after the jump!

Although the tees are a tad pricy at $38-48 a pop, these designer fashions are made out of high quality Pima cotton, which is softer and more long-lasting than your standard superhero tee.
Social Climber Tee, $48 [link]
Despite the flattering cut of this top and the stylish graphic of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, I’m not too jazzed about the “Social Climber” text scribbled on top of this graphic. I get it, it’s a Catwoman joke, and it’s possible the phrase is used in the film and the specific context has yet to reveal itself, but as this is the only women’s top available in the collection… yeah.
Shattered Batwings Tee, $48 [link]

White Fire Rises Tee, $48 [link]

Batman Watercolor Tee, $48 [link]

Although the product description for this tee describes this design as “Batman watercolor art from The Dark Knight Rises,” this is actually Dustin Nguyen’s artwork for Heart of Hush. Regardless of kitson’s labeling mistake, a designer shirt featuring Dustin Nguyen’s beautiful artwork is pretty stellar.

Bane Lightning Bolts Tank, $38 [link]

Grey Batman Classic Logo Tee, $48 [link]

More Secrets about Pandora in THE NEW 52 Revealed …..

Little by little we’re getting some answers. Unfortunately with those answers, we’re getting plenty more questions.

At the end of last summer’s major event for DC Comics, Flashpoint, we saw a mysterious pink glowing lady whose name would later be revealed to be Pandora. As Barry Allen was trying to fix the time stream that resulted in the Flashpoint world, Pandora showed up and the result was a brand new universe. The characters were the ones we knew but some of their history had been tweaked or altered.

Since then, Pandora has shown up in all the #1 issues of the “New 52″ simply observing in the background. A back up story in the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE #6, revealed a connection to the Phantom Stranger but we were still left with more questions. With the beginning of last week’s “Second Wave” of new titles, she was seen in three of the four new titles (no presence in EARTH 2, which could be the due to the story taking place on another ‘universe’). In the Free Comic Book Day edition of THE NEW 52, even more information has appeared. Be sure to read the Free comic book first because there will be some spoilers below.

== TEASER ==

When Pandora first appeared, she mentioned that the “history of heroes was shattered into three long ago.” We were to take that as the main DC Universe along with the Wildstorm and Vertigo “Earths” that appear to have been merged with the main universe (“New Earth” or “Earth 0″). Pandora also mentioned that the history was splintered to weaken the world for “their impending arrival.” One of the big questions remains to who exactly is coming?

DC’s also been big on trinities. In THE NEW 52: FCBD Edition, we see Pandora in her early days being sentenced by the Circle of Eternity (higher beings at the Rock of Eternity). Pandora was grouped with two others and they were labeled The Trinity of Sin.

One of the others was the Phantom Stranger, seen with Pandora in JUSTICE LEAGUE. Phantom Stranger was sentenced because of his greed and he was to be a witness to what greed could do on Earth. Despite being sentenced, he was sent after Pandora due to her more active involvement in the DC Universe.

What specifically his role in the universe or how much he might serve the Circle remains to be seen.

The third of this trinity appears to be the Question. When sentenced, he defied the Circle and declared he would “rise to power again” and that they would fear his name “as does the world.”

The Circle’s solution was to make him forget his name and sentenced him to forever question his identity and have a need to constantly search for answers. We have yet to see him in the current day in the “New 52″ comics.

What about Pandora? Why was she sentenced?

Apparently it goes back to that famous box of hers. She opened it and unleashed the terrors of man. The box was to be a prison to “tragedy and torment and torture.” The Circle saw her as an evil girl for doing so and sentenced her to an eternity of loneliness.

It seems since her sentencing, Pandora’s spent centuries in tears, some in shame and others in isolation. But after all this time, she’s become more active. Merging the different timelines is a pretty big move for someone who got in trouble for opening a box. But it should be noted that she was never actually sentenced. When she didn’t have anything to say for herself, the Circle went off on her telling her how bad she was and then sent her off.

In the FCBD issue, we see Pandora is even more active than before.

She may have opened the box centuries ago, but what happened to the box since? What was actually inside the box? If you’ve read the issue, you have an idea. She does get her box back and we do find out what’s inside.

And this will also be leading into next year’s Trinity War as we got a glimpse of “the near future” in the issue. What’s inside the box could mean the end of the Justice League. Looks like we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled in the next few #1s in the “second wave” as well as for wherever Pandora shows up next.

Will You Buy Cena vs. Laurinaitis? Uhhh …. NO… Not at All ….

John Laurinaitis Profile Photo

Call me crazy, but after coming off of Wrestlemania 29 which headlined with John Cena vs. The Rock, and then rushing into Extreme Rules to get the John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar nut off prematurely, who in their right mind would pay to see Super Dave take on the face of the organization?

I’m still trying to figure out exactly what creative is doing with Cena. I understand the concept of letting him work “featured” matches and letting other young stars rise to the top of the title scene. But creative is literally riding their golden horse into the ground and devaluing his impact on the business.

What is the point of making John Laurinaitis your top heel in the entire company? Other than portraying a character that hides behind his abuse of power, how does this one man become the main antagonist of a weekly story? In the beginning, it made sense that there would be heel heat against the VP of Talent Relations and the play on the phrase “…wish you the best in your future endeavors”, but enough is enough. He is not a wrestler…at least not anymore. I still question whether he was a real wrestler when he was romping around looking like a 40 year old surfer and Point Break reject. He’s not a contender and he’s not worthy of main eventing a pay per view. Plan and simple, anyone who orders this PPV will be subjected to numerous run-ins and false finishes. it’s the equivalent of Vince McMahon being Stone Cold Steve Austin’s arch nemesis. Yeah, it worked for a moment, but how long can you really ride it out before it gets stale? At what point do we cut the cord from the soap opera and get back to wrestling?

As if it weren’t bad enough that there are monthly PPV events throughout the entire year, now you have non-wrestlers filling in the gaps for your main events. I urge wrestling fans to save their money from this debacle. What do you REALLY think you are going to get for your money? Do you think you are going to witness history? Do you think you’re watching something so memorable that it will be replayed and highlighted for years to come? This will be forgotten faster than Braden Walker’s career.

WWE creative, if you want our money – then we demand something worth our money.

Paul Heyman Returns to the WWE !!!

Paul-heyman

As previously reported, Paul Heyman returned to WWE for the first time since late 2006. He appeared on this week’s Raw as Brock Lesnar’s “legal representative.”

Heyman cut a promo taking shots at today’s WWE for being so “image conscious,” and then read a statement from Lesnar, stating that he had quit the company and was “never coming back.” This is all part of a new storyline for Lesnar.

Heyman’s involvement with the company will become valuable as a mouthpiece for Lesnar, limiting the amount of acting that Lesnar is asked to do. With Lesnar being limited to a certain number of dates in his WWE contract, Heyman will be able to keep Lesnar’s storylines active while he is off television.

WWE Champion CM Punk teased Heyman’s return on his Twitter earlier today, writing, “Trust me when I say this #RAW will be fantastic. I love knowing stuff nobody knows. I tweet happy today. Hell, I’m just happy. Nice spending time with an old friend.” As previously noted, Punk spoiled the return of Heyman with the following Tweet and also uploading a photo of Heyman posted at 10:32 PM EDT, “Okay. I’m having a blast with this. Here he is. The man. MY man. And he’s headed to the ring….”

Lucasfilm Trademarks ‘Star Wars 1313′ — Why???

The question on everyone’s minds this morning is whether or not George Lucas is planning a new Star Wars project; and it’s no wonder considering the news that hit about Lucasfilm’s latest trademark. Early last week Lucasfilm registered a trademark for ‘Star Wars 1313,’ giving them the rights to absolutely every form of entertainment associated with that name including video games, films, graphic novels, comic books and even toy helmets and toy snow globes. Yes, you read that right; snow globes.

So, what the heck is ‘Star Wars 1313′? With only the trademark to go on and the fact that Lucasfilm has registered just about every form of entertainment under the sun associated with that name, there’s not much else to say. That is, of course, with the exception that ‘Star Wars 1313′ will have something to do with Boba Fett’s character.

According to a page on Wikia, Boba Fett once referred to himself as the alias CT-1313 when he was once “confronted by a clone trooper” on Aargau. This little tidbit appeared in the Scholastic Boba Fett series by Elizabeth Hand, and is therefore not necessarily considered “true Star Wars canon.” This is pretty much the main reason we prefer to discredit this idea that Star Wars 1313 will have something to do with Boba Fett — it just seems unlikely that Lucas would dedicate so much effort into a concept that appeared in one of the Star Wars off-shoot novels. History has taught us that Lucas likes to have his creative hand in control of just about everything Star Wars related.

== TEASER ==

The idea of a Boba Fett live-action movie — or anything related to the character isn’t a new idea. In fact, last summer Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston stated that he would definitely be interested in bringing Boba Fett to the big screen.

“You know if he wants to see it, I would show it to him. I’m trying to get George to make a feature based on Boba Fett.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Joe Johnston’s name attached to Boba Fett — in fact it’s something we mentioned last summer. So Is ‘Star Wars 1313′ Johnston’s project coming into full realization, or is that just wishful thinking on everybody’s part? Johnston was, after all, an integral part of bringing Boba Fett to life, and the character definitely caught on with fans. Even with minimal time on-screen, Boba Fett is still a very popular character, so expounding on that popularity wouldn’t be a bad idea. Still, could ‘Star Wars 1313′ be a Boba Fett movie, video game, animated series, graphic novel or even a snow globe? That remains to be seen. What do you think ‘Star Wars 1313′ will be about?

Superman Mr. Potato Head and Wonder Woman Mrs. Potato Head Coming in August

The DC Comics toyverse just got enriched with  some tuberous titans with the announcement of Superman Mr. Potato Head  and Wonder Woman Mrs. Potato Head. Referring to the plastic potato  heroes as cosplayers, The Source reports that the figures will stand 6″ tall and  arrive in stores sometime this August. Both toys feature “classic” designs  rather than costumes from DC’s “New 52″ continuity or various multimedia  interpretations of the characters. Batman’s The Dark Knight Spud incarnation, which is set for a  slightly earlier release this summer, will probably still form a suitable  starchy trinity with the two potaheroes, though. Given Mr. Potato Head and Mrs.  Potato Head’s costume choices, one can only imagine what form their offspring  might take. It’s doubtful fans will ever see a Lara Spud from The Dark  Knight Strikes Again, but it should be interesting to see if customizers  get cracking come August. Take a look at DC’s superheroic Potato Heads after the  jump.
