What will be the plot of Thor 3?

NEMGwAABWMb4QQ_1_1

With the lackluster Thor: The Dark World finally out on DVD, Thor fans can start looking ahead to what challenges the God of Thunder will have to face in his next self titled movie.  Christ Hemsworth has already said he wants Thor 3 to feature his character as more of a powerhouse, so that means we are probably going to see Thor go up against even bigger and badder enemies than frost giants and dark elves.  What The Dark World so sorely lacked was emotion and a sense of seriousness.  The only heart wrenching part of the film is when his mother dies, other than that, the movie is a series of predictable Loki plot twists and reliable saving the girl techniques.  Joss Whedon has said Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to be pretty dark, so Thor 3 will hopefully take on that tone since it will be a post AOU movie.  With Odin missing it is not too far off to guess that Ragnarok, the end of the world, might soon be approaching.  It would be nice to see an “End of the World” scenario where Thor and his allies have to risk all to save everything that ever was.  So obviously Surtur seems to be a good choice for the big villain here.  Ladies (and men) can get their fill of Tom Hiddleston, as I’m sure Loki has a stake in keeping the universe intact.  And if the movie is long enough (it better be if it’s about the world ending) we might even be treated to Thor getting help from an unlikely source.

406px-Beta_ray_bill

BETA RAY BILL!  Am I biased? Yes. Beta Ray Bill is so badass his initials literally tell you he doesn’t have time for you.  Is it a stretch? I don’t think so.  The movie could easily start off with Beta Ray Bill’s flight from the forces of Surtur, and crash landing on Earth.  Marvel movies need to take a step away from single title movies past 2 or 3.  It’s obviously worked as of now, but Marvel single movies now seem like they are just bridging space between Avengers movies.  Instead of calling the movie “Thor 3: Generic Threatening Title”, they should call it “Ragnarok” or some other title from a comic storyline.  Thor would headline it still obviously, but there would be wiggle room to include other characters from other films.  Obviously Marvel and Disney don’t care, because they’ll be raking in the bajillions of dollars no matter what, but it’s an idea to think about.  I have better odds of getting a Booster Gold movie in my lifetime.  But a boy can dream.  I’m expecting big things from “Thor 3: Generic Threatening Title”, but I hope it’s not just LETS PUT HIM AGAINST THE ENCHANTRESS AND WE’LL CONNECT ANOTHER INFINITY GEM TEE HEE HEE. C’mon Marvel/Disney, don’t be that guy.

Here’s Tom Hiddleston Cosplaying As Captain America In An Unused ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Scene [Video]

Thor The Dark World Loki Captain America Costume

If Tumblr was a person, they’d be flipping their lid right now.

If you caught Thor: The Dark World in theaters a few months back, you know there’s a scene in which Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, briefly transforms into Chris Evans’ Captain America. It’s a funny scene.

For filmmaking purposes we’re not entirely privy to, other than maybe Hiddleston just wanted to wear a Captain America costume, the scene was originally shot with Loki’s actor rather than Steve Rogers’.  So get ready, Tumblr. You’re about to see some magic.

What’s especially weird is that Loki turns into Jaimie Alexander’s Sif in the clip, just like he does in the movie. Maybe Tom Hiddleston can just do that.

Thor: The Dark World hits Blu-ray and DVD  February 24. This outtake, along with presumably many others, and a short film featuring Iron Man 3‘s Ben Kingsley, will be part of the package.

Thor: The Dark World Review

natalie-portman-4-thor_GB

To start my review I wanted to say that I will not mention any spoilers in the film but talk more about characters individually and how it fits in Marvel’s Phase Two.

As we all know Thor: The Dark World is the second film in Marvel’s Phase Two, with the first being Iron Man 3. I didn’t want to moan about Iron Man 3 but I will say that despite being disappointed with the start of the second Phase this film definitely brought my Marvel expectations up high again. Even though both Iron Man and Thor include a lot of humour and action in their films for me I enjoy the wonder and fantasy of Thor’s world more than Iron Man. That might make me biased but hey!

Let’s get straight to Loki. Some people have been concerned that with Loki’s success as a villain that his character would push Thor aside in his own movie, I had this worry myself. The amount of Loki time was perfect. He was in the film enough on his own as well as with Thor. The balance was great. I think Loki in this film was better than in the previous two. They made him fun and mischievous and childlike which underneath everything is what he is. He doesn’t steal the show as much as you might have thought but he brings such a good part to the film, mainly due to his relationship with Thor. Despite everything that has happened in the past with the two on screen they have never actually been seen as two siblings acting like siblings. Marvel made it very fun and relatable to the audience. They also explain and carry on from The Avengers. Big thumbs up. Tom Hiddleston just is so good in this role, no faults what so ever with his performance. He carries it well and so he should he doesn’t know it will be his last time playing him.

Chris Hemsworth carries on playing Thor as a God, a hero and as a man who has grown from his experiences. The storyline does connect him with the Avengers and in this film it seemed they weren’t scared about talking about it too much. It made it flow from the Avengers which reminded the audience that despite everything that happens in the film, Thor is now an avenger. Thumbs up.

Let’s move on to Jane Foster, she is great in this film. Strangely there seems to be a lot more of her away from Thor than with him. She doesn’t need to be with him in this film, she’s not just a supporting character which was very refreshing to watch. However, when she does meet with Thor again you do see their relationship blossom, not as much as I hoped though. They don’t really get time to before things start happening. I’ll obviously not go into that.

Odin King of Asgard… Hmmmm. I just didn’t feel Anthony Hopkins as Odin this time. Not too sure why, he carries the character well it just seems like he didn’t have the same emotions and empathy as he did in the first. Rene Russo returns to play Frigga, Thor and Loki’s mother. She brings across such a typical loving mother as she did in the first. She interacts with Loki after he is returned to Asgard, I will say it is a very emotional moment in the film.

Malekith, is a typical alien nutjob who wants to cause destruction and chaos and doesn’t care who stands in his way. I thought Christopher Eccelston did a fantastic job being a baddy. Even though you could hardly tell it was him with all the fantastic make-up they used.

Two more three who I have to mention, Kat Dennings as Darcy has a lot more involvement in this film than I thought but in a good way. Dr. Erik Selvig, All I can say is he made everyone in the cinema burst out laughing. Any Edris Alba fans? He is great in it too. I know I keep saying great a lot but that’s what it is.

There’s rumours and questions as to if they have included an avenger in the film. Obviously I won’t say yes or no as it would give it away. The story continues straight after The Avengers which makes it easier for fans to follow and it explains so much about Thor and the Avengers team up. The make-up and CGI is also stunning, the visual representation of Thor’s world in this film does take you to a fantasy. 3-D for me is an iffy area but I would recommend it with this film. As long as you have a good distance for your glasses. Oh by the way the ending makes you want more even after a long film. The end-credit introduces someone you wouldn’t ever guess.

The main things I took away from this film was that Thor and Loki’s relationship stole the film, Jane Foster was not just Thor’s love interest, it explained so much about the past films and the humour which I thought at first was a bit too much but once my critic style mind had relaxed I laughed and I enjoyed the film even more than Thor. Definitely go see this film, best film I’ve seen this year. Sorry Superman.
