Who is the “REAL” Villain in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN – Major Spoiler…. DONT LOOK IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW

Here’s a new film clip from The Amazing Spider-Man, but be warned… it contains a pretty major spoiler revealing the villain that we’ll see in the sequels.

The clip features a conversation between Dr. Ratha and Dr. Connors, revealing the person who’s really pulling the strings in the background. It wasn’t really a surprise to me, as I figured this character would play a big role in the full story trilogy Marc Webb wants to tell.

If you want to know who the villain is, go ahead and watch the clip below! If you decided to watch it, what do you think about what they are doing with the character?

One of the world’s most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in The Amazing Spider-Man™. Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the film in association with Marvel Entertainment for Columbia Pictures, which will open in theaters in 3D on 29th June 2012

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance — leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The First (Judge) ‘Dredd’ Movie Trailer

At last, Lionsgate has released the first theatrical trailer for Dredd, the new film based on the beloved and enduringly popular Judge Dredd character created by John Wagner, Carlos Ezquerra and Pat Mills for 2000 AD. Directed by Pete Travis from a script by Alex Garland (Sunshine, 28 Days Later) and starring Star Trek’s Karl Urban and Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey, the film finds the titular lawman on a characteristically ultra-violent mission to rid Mega-City One of “slo-mo,” a nasty narcotic that makes people experience life in lovely slow motion photography.

Premiering in September, Dredd is the first live-action Judge Dredd film since the 1995 effort starring Sylvester Stallone. That American film was very poorly reviewed and is remembered as something of a flop (although it earned over $113 million worldwide). Produced by DNA Films, IM Global and Reliance Entertainment (and endorsed by John Wagner himself), Dredd is meant to be truer to the satirical, British sensibilities of the source material. Notably, the plot of this film — Judges Dredd and Anderson find themselves in an impossibly massive building facing an endless army of criminals in a war over some cool science fiction drugs — would seem to be just the sort of crazy Judge Dredd adventure you’d expect to find in an issue of 2000 AD, as opposed to the more overwrought origin stories comic book films often favor.

Here’s the official synopsis from Lionsgate:

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge — a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Nickelodeon Releases First CG ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Series Trailer …

There may have been a hiccup in the production schedule for Michael Bay’s troubled Ninja Turtles movie, but — as with IDW’s multiple ongoing comic projects — everything is humming right along schedule for Nickelodeon’s new CG animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. A new trailer debuted by Entertainment Weekly today, putting into motion the stills and massive amount of toy images that debuted in February at Toy Fair in February. Acting as both an origin briefing and a soundboard for some current-generation ninja bro quips, the new trailer seems to balance tonal elements from previous TMNT multimedia well enough (though it’s much more lighthearted than Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman’s original comics), with the basic characterization of each turtle intact. There’s even music that sounds like something of a light homage to the 1987 animated series.

The show still doesn’t have an official release date, but considering Playmates plans to roll out its toy line in the fall, fans can probably expect the series to debut before too terribly long. See what you think of the first full trailer below:

About “The Walking Dead”

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, “The Walking Dead” tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse, and follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who travel in search of a safe and secure home. “The Walking Dead” reigns as the most watched drama series on basic cable for Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54. The series has garnered an Emmy(R) Award for Outstanding Prosthetic Make-up and a Golden Globe(R) Award nomination for Best Television Series – Drama, among other accolades.

About “Breaking Bad”

The explosive drama series that Variety calls “simply one of TV’s great addictions,” returns to AMC for the first part of its final season on Sunday, July 15 at 10pm ET/PT. The final season of the Emmy(R) Award-winning drama consists of 16 episodes, with the first eight episodes beginning July 15 and culminating with the series’ final eight episodes next summer 2013. Created by acclaimed writer, producer, and director Vince Gilligan and produced by Sony Pictures Television, the critically acclaimed series has garnered six Primetime Emmy(R) Award wins and a Peabody, and been named to the American Film Institute’s (AFI) list of the “Top 10 Programs of the Year” (2008, 2010, 2011). In the highly anticipated new season, a newly empowered and increasingly remorseless Walt White (Bryan Cranston) finds himself attempting to control a tenuous empire. But uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.

About “Comic Book Men”

Executive produced by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy), Charlie Corwin’s Original Media (LA Ink, Storm Chasers, Swamp People) and Elyse Seiden (Red State), “Comic Book Men” dives deep into fanboy culture by following the antics in and around master fanboy Smith’s New Jersey comic shop, Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash, where both staff and customers geek out over mind-blowing pop culture artifacts and the legends behind them. Leading the crew behind the Secret Stash counter are moody manager Walt, uber-nerd Mike, career slacker Brian, and Ming, the shop’s go-to whipping boy. As the team buys, sells and discovers the treasures of the comic collecting world, they share all the juicy details with Kevin through their outrageous podcast, which is woven throughout the series.

THE METAL MEN Coming to the Big Screen! Fantastic !!!

Last month Men in Black director Barry Sonnenfeld revealed that he was in talks with Warner Bros. to direct a big screen adaption of a lesser known 1960′s DC comic book. He didn’t reveal what that comic book was at the time, but we know now. Vulture is reporting that Sonnenfeld is attached to direct The Metal Men series.

I’m not familiar with this comic at all, but the story ”centers on an artificial-intelligence expert named William Magnus who creates six cyborgs, each made from a distinct chemical element with talents reflecting their places in the periodic table: Gold, their leader, was almost infinitely stretchable; Iron, the strongman; Lead, the simpleton protector; Mercury, the capricious risk-taker who could melt into the tiniest crevices; Platinum, a female cyborg who could flatten herself but who couldn’t believe she wasn’t a real woman.”

This is sure to make a very interesting movie. I imagine Sonnenfeld has a cool idea for these characters. Even though I don’t know much about this comic and its characters, I think Sonnenfeld is a solid director, and from what I’ve read on the characters it should make for a fun movie.

What do you think about Sonnenfeld taking on The Metal Men?

Why Fans Deserve The Lizard !

The Sam Raimi Spider-Man franchise took the web slinger and put him onto the big screen in a HUGE way. While the Blade series may have been the true start to this new era of great comic book films, Spider-Man truly took hold of the idea and brought it to the mass market, and more importantly, all ages. Spider-Man combine good film making with comic books. An idea many people thought was close to impossible to accomplish.

Sam Raimi’s run on Spider-Man has come to close after three films, and there’s one thing most fans wanted to see but never got: The Lizard as a villain. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem. Many people would just say it’s fans complaining that their favorite character isn’t getting the screen time he or she deserves. With the Spider-Man series, it’s much different because the Lizard was set-up in Raimi’s run, in depth. Now, with Amazing Spider-Man right around the corner, fans finally get to see the Lizard on the big screen, and the fact of the matter is that the fans deserve it.

Raimi’s first Spider-Man film broke all sorts of box office records for its time back in 2002, and with the success of the film came two sequels, which ended up setting up a classic Spider-Man villain: Dr Curt Connors, the man who would become The Lizard.

The role of Curt Connors in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 was played by Dylan Baker. He had smaller parts in each film, but he was a source of knowledge and a potential role model for Peter Parker. Fans clamored for two movies as they saw him on screen, and they patiently waited for Connors to turn into the Lizard, but nothing happened. There were rumors on the net that there would be a fourth Spider-Man film and it would feature Curt Connor’s amazing transformation, but obviously, that never happened.

Instead, fans get a reboot, of sorts, of the whole series. This time, Andrew Garfield takes the reigns as Spider-Man, and the villain in the film is none other than the character they’ve been trying to set up for two movies, the Lizard.

This villain first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man 6, back in 1963, and he is a staple villain in the Spider-Man universe. Lizard has appeared in 50 issues in the Amazing Spider-Man volume alone, as well as countless appearances in Marvel Tales, Spectacular Spider-Man, Sensational Spider-Man, and many other Spidey and non-Spidey books alike.

Why does it matter that the Lizard is the main baddie in this film? Well, he appeals to a wide-variety of fans, from hardcore Spider-Man readers to the occasional Spidey-Fan. On top of that, he’s appeared on many of the Spider-Man cartoon series, so many children are very familiar with the character. He appeals to a wider audience than a lot of Spidey’s other villains.

On top of that, using Lizard as the main villain can make this more than just your average Spider-Man film. From just the few glimpses fans have seen of the character, there seems to be a horror element present to the character, and in turn, this film. The Lizard isn’t a strategic, thinking man’s character. He’s a beast, a killing machine, and one that will do whatever it takes to reach his goal. The Lizard is a beast, and one that reminds many people of the hundreds of horror films featuring some sort of mutant creating havoc across town. This is not saying this is going to be a straight up horror film, but you can expect to see a few scary moments in this upcoming film.

What’s really going to make this the perfect bad guy for fans, and not just because of the fight scenes. Some of the best villains in comics are ones that have a connection to their heroes. While I mentioned that the Lizard is essentially just a brute, the man inside him, Dr Curt Connors, is a mentor to Peter Parker, and someone Peter respects. How do you stop a man you respect that can’t control what he’s doing? It’s going to be pretty awesome to see how this plays out in this film, and more importantly, it’s not a jobber villain. It’s a character fans deserve to see.

Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Rhys Ifans as Dr Curt Connors, hits theaters everywhere on July 3rd. What do you guys think about the Lizard in the upcoming film?
